Primary Sources
Tariff slabs, fixed/demand charges, electricity duty rates, meter rent, and Fuel Adjustment Charges (FAC) configured on this site are drawn from publicly published sources, principally:
- Tariff orders published by each state's State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) — e.g. DERC (Delhi), MERC (Maharashtra), TNERC (Tamil Nadu), KSERC (Kerala), KERC (Karnataka)
- Retail tariff schedules published directly by DISCOMs on their official websites (e.g. BESCOM, TNEB/TANGEDCO, UPPCL, MSEDCL)
- Official government notifications for subsidy/free-unit schemes (state-level schemes such as Gruha Jyothi, and central schemes such as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana)
Data Marked "FY 2025-26"
Tariffs displayed as "FY 2025-26" reflect the tariff order in effect for that financial year as published by the relevant SERC/DISCOM at the time our data was last reviewed. SERCs typically revise tariffs annually (sometimes mid-year), and FAC/FPPPA surcharges in particular can be revised monthly by some DISCOMs — our configured FAC value is a representative figure and may not match the exact current month's surcharge.
Update Process
Tariff data on this site is reviewed and updated periodically against the sources above, rather than pulled automatically in real time from each SERC/DISCOM. This means there can be a gap between an official tariff revision taking effect and it being reflected here. If you spot a figure that looks out of date, please tell us — see below.
Report Outdated or Incorrect Data
If a tariff, subsidy rule, or DISCOM detail on this site doesn't match your official bill or your utility's current published rates, please report it via our Contact page, ideally with a link to the official notification. We review and correct reported data as quickly as we can — see our Editorial Policy for our correction process.
Always Verify Against Your Official Bill
However current our data is, this site produces estimates, not official bills. For the amount actually due on your connection, always refer to your DISCOM's official bill, portal, or app. See our Disclaimer for details.
